Balance: Juggling Motherhood and Fitness
Hey there, mom! I get it; between diapers, school, laundry, playdates, and perfecting momhood, finding time for fitness seems impossible. Don’t worry! I’ve got your back. Let’s dive into how you can find time for you and your fitness goals without the mom guilt!

You Matter! Yes You!
I know it seems like you need to put everyone else's needs before your own and that it's selfish to think about taking time for yourself. However, that simply isn't true! You are an amazing, beautiful, emotional human being and you matter! It is essential for you to think about you. Especially when it comes to putting your needs before everyone else's. This isn’t selfish. Your cup needs to be full, before you can fill everyone else’s.
I know you’re thinking “that's great and all, but how and when am I supposed to focus on me when everything else needs to get done?” I get it. I have been there. I was the perfect pinterest Mom, I planned all the parties with the cute snowman charcuterie boards and christmas tree veggie platters. However, I was miserable. I spent no time on myself. I was drained, exhausted and forgot that I, too, was a person, not just a mom. Keep reading and I’ll give you some tips on how to be an amazing mom and find you time.
Guilt-Free "Me Time"
First off, don’t feel guilty taking a moment for you. Its important to change your mindset and thinking on this, so you can build sustainable habits. It's time to rewire your thinking. Remember, a well-rested, happy mom means a happier family. So, schedule "me time" just like any other important task on your list. It doesn’t have to be a lot, start with 10 mins a day and increase from there, when and if it works out.
Find What You Love
Self-care isn't a one-size-fits-all deal. It could be a good book, a bubble bath, painting, dancing, or simply savoring a hot cup of coffee. Think back to what you were passionate about before kids. The key is to find something that sparks joy and gives you a break from your daily routine.
Set Boundaries
One word, powerful impact: "No." Don't feel pressured to say yes to every request or invitation. Your time is precious, and saying no when needed is a vital part of self-care.
Prioritize Sleep: A Well-Rested Mom is a Happy Mom
We all know that lack of sleep can turn you into a cranky anxious mom. So make sure to prioritize sleep. 8-10 hours is recommended, however, each person has their own necessary sleep schedule. You know how much sleep you need. A well-rested mom is ready to take on the world.
Exercise Those Worries Away
Exercise isn't just for weight loss; it's for stress loss too. A quick workout or even a leisurely walk can clear your mind, reduce anxiety, and give you a refreshing energy boost. When I coach those new to fitness that’s what I teach you to focus your mind on. How can exercise add to your life?
Connect with Other Moms
Being a mom can sometimes feel lonely. Find your mom friends– those wonderful women who understand what you're going through. A little chat, a cup of tea, and some shared laughs can do wonders for your mood. Adding others into your life that have the same goals and lifestyle as you can actually improve your chances at success.

Don't Do It All
If it's feasible, consider hiring some help, even if it's just for a few hours a week. This gives you a chance to focus on your self-care without worrying about chores. Your time and energy is worth the money and you can spend more time focusing on other ways to add to your life. I get it though, this is not always an option. If spending money isn't an option, try trading babysitting hours with a friend. I used to go to the park with a mom friend and she would go on a 30 minute walk, while I hung out with the kids and then we would switch.
No More Mom Guilt
Mom guilt might knock on your door occasionally, but it's time to send it packing. Remember, taking care of yourself isn't a luxury; it's a necessity. A happy, relaxed mom is a gift to your family and helps you maintain your own self-identity. So, embrace self-care. You've got this!
Defeating the Clock: Finding 'You' Time
Time, or rather the lack of it, can seem impossible to find. There is a way to find time. Forget the idea of long, uninterrupted workouts. Sneak in shorter, more frequent exercises throughout the day. Those ten-minute power sessions can add up.
We're All In This Together: Enlist Your Tiny Sidekicks
Let's talk about involving your little munchkins. You're not just working out; you're setting an example, teaching them the value of staying active. Make it a family affair! Turn the living room into an obstacle course or have dance parties in the kitchen.
Engage your kids in your workout routine. They'll love playing alongside you. Use them as weights for squats or have a dance-off in the living room. It's a win-win – you work out, and they have a blast. The best part? It's bonding time and a mini workout.
Delegate and Ditch Perfection
Here's a little secret – perfection is overrated. The house doesn't always need to be spotless, and gourmet meals can take a backseat. Delegate tasks and enlist help when you can. Remember, you don't have to do it all alone. The more you free up, the more time you have for yourself.
Want to eliminate workout decision fatigue? Consider working with a personal trainer who knows first hand the challenges that Mom's face everyday!
Combine Fun and Exercise
The park can be your best friend. While your little ones run around, you can squeeze in a workout, too. Use park benches for step-ups, and you'll find monkey bars make excellent pull-up bars. Your kids play, you play, everybody wins!
Remember. balance isn't a destination; it's a journey. Finding time for yourself is as important as any other task on your list. So take that step, even if it's a small one. And keep in mind: A healthier, happier mom means a healthier, happier family.
